What is the name of the red designed mirror that is hung outside to reflect bad energy in feng shui?
it is called a bagua (pronounced as pa-kua), literally means 8 kua (a kua is a trigram, which is composed of 3 lines – broken for yin and a line for yang).
there are 3 kinds of bagua mirrors:
- an ordinary/ flat mirror
- convex – this is used to deflect bad chi
- concave
it is not adviseable to use a bagua mirror, even if you have a bad chi facing your house. i do think that books have made this issue bigger than it is supposed to be. the point is this – if that bad chi thing outside the house is affecting the fengshui of your house based on some fengshui method like flying stars (or others), then you need to use a bagua. but if you just read it and feel like putting it – dont. because you’ll just complicate your life.
the other thing to note is that you dont put an uncovered bagua or just having the design on paper displayed in the house, because it can be fatal to its occupant/s.
