BINOCULARS.What should i opt for as my first set?I want a pair that are simple and effective,whats the best?

magnification for everyday use,giving good results.And what are the better makes,though i cannot afford the top of the range models.Ijust want good,solid performers.

what do you want to use them for,,,
people are usually sucked into the most powerful
these have a very narrow field of vision (width)and need to be supported on something(a tripod) as the trembling of your hand makes everything look like it is shaking,,,,these are good for bird watching and not much else day vision only.
the less powerful such as 8×40 have a much wider field of vision and you can follow a f1 racing car without visible shake.and also have pretty good vision in darkened conditions as well.
the most powerful are very limited and you should not fall for the rubbish manufacturers put out about them
