I’m 14 going on 15 can i become a professional tennis player?
Hi i’ve played since i was 12 and have been going all out at 13 and often go to the GYM at least once a week and going to start going around 3 times.
I often turn to you tube or google for training tips and also repetitively watch videos of tennis players. But I have not had any actual traning sessions. Nor have i ever played an oficial game.
Fitness and technique wise i think I’m not bad for my age but i have not done a session of training or have played an official match. But I also play everyday.
Besides playing whenever I can i also dream about become a professional tennis played everyday do you think i can do it?
It’s not that simple. You have to kick it up several notches. Try to go to the gym everyday. Stick to workouts necessary for tennis. Get a private coach. They help a lot and they can teach you technique that watching the pros will not. Also, if you haven’t played a match, then you can’t say you’re a good player yet. Playing a match for fun and playing a match to go to the next round are completely different. In a serious match, there is pressure, stress, and strategy added on to keeping your technique and being as quick at the end as you are at the beginning. Tennis players may not look muscular but they have very dense quads and that is the main muscle needed for tennis players. Matches can last anywhere from 1 hour to 4 hours at the junior level. I once played a three setter which I won 6-7(7-4), 7-6(13-11), 6-3. It took 4 hours and starting the third set, I could tell that my opponent was running out of strength and I started making the rallies longer and his mental game fell apart. Those are the kinds of things that you can’t learn from doing drills or playing matches for fun.
