How Cups And Plates Won’t Last Forever

It has to be said that we live in a rather wasteful society. Close to 20mil cups, plates and other utensils are disposed of every day in the UK and US, causing a vast amount of unprocessable landfill. It is likely that there will always be a demand for tableware as society is not going to change over night, but we may not have much to eat off of them if we continue to mistreat nature? Well one company in Richmond may now have the answer.

They have developed a complete range of biodegradable and compostable tableware that can be used in exactly the same way as ordinary products. They are completely safe and can also be cleaned properly. The difference is that when they are thrown away, they will break down and provide nutrients for microbes and plant matter.

The company has been given a thumbs up from eco organisations and by local government, picking up a few important awards for their efforts. New Visions, a not-for-profit organization that helps out developing companies provided them with their latest accolade.

The award comprised of a $2000 donation that is thought to be going towards increasing the company’s range. Their range currently extends to 25 items, which include, mugs, bowls and cutlery. They are looking into making more utensils such a bottle opener and more detailed pieces like designer cheese knives

The person who started the company, Jocelyn Tice as already clearly stated her intentions for the new products to be available in every country. “just think of the decrease it waste” she says. We will help save the world by not having to constantly find new places to dump these items, but everyone’s finances will benefit also.

Additional to her newest tableware concepts, Jocelyn is now researching products from various industry sectors with the hope of applying the technology there also.  She has also been approached by a number of larger companies who are interested in incorporating her products into their own table and glassware
